Mackmyra 5 Years Old Batch 2 Whisky Review: Deliciously floral and fruity, I love Makmyra’s quirky nature and this has it in droves despite the simple cask maturation. 86/100
Comte Louis de Lauriston VSOP Calvados Domfrontais Calvados Review: Very well structured, quite slick with great texture but a little ethereal in terms of distinct flavours – a really great blend with a perfect balance of fruit and wood. 85/100
Benriach 5 Years Old 2013 The GreatDrams Single Cask Series Whisky Review: Quite light and spirity and shows signs of youth particularly in the coppery metallic nature. Not overtly peated – I picked this up blind as a dark/liqourice and burnt nature in which this gets most of its strength. Nice dark/dried fruit and sugary notes. 81/100
Labourdonnais 5 Years Old Batch 1 rum review: A lovely balance of sweet and spice presented and a little sugary weight behind this. 85/100
Kininvie KVSM001single malt whisky review: Initially I found this far too light and thin and didn’t favour the off citrus notes and spice. On revisit, and having breathed a little, this had smoothed a little around the edges, more sweetness and less acridity was apparent. I can’t see myself drinking a lot of this neat / with water as single malt should in my mind be able to be consumed. 68/100
Octomore 08.3 whisky review: A mixture of sweet and bitter make for quite a complex dram permanently backed by peat influences but never overpowered by it. Lots of delicious woody herbal influence and a little earthen too in places, there is soft and tropical fruits and coconut in here also. 87/100
Very pleasant, sweetened and peat-fuelled with a little honey and toffee malt to keep it pleasant, Caol Ila is surprisingly good at this age and this is a particularly great example! 86/100
Lemorton 5 ans Réserve Vieux Calvados Domfrontais Review: A delicious introduction to Lemorton Calvados Domfrontais, Lemorton Réserve presents full & ripe orchard fruits from the spirit character it is made from, with the oak ageing taming this and adding a little hint of caramelised sugar and vanilla. 84/100
