A little tannic and spicy at cask strength but water’s well. Throughout despite heavy sherry cask influence there was a constant note of fresh and waxed red apples, a superbly sherried Aberlour.

Annandale Man O’ Words 2015 Bourbon Cask 528 Whisky Review: Really quite fresh compared to the new make spirit, predominantly fruit driven here with lemons and apples and also lots of vanillin and woody oak spices from the bourbon cask. Traces of barley malt persist in the finish. 84/100
Cambus 28 Years Old Batch 11 Whisky Review: Old & woody but still quite solventy. Thankfully this carries some oily weight which adds depth. With water this is much sweeter and smoother and full of toffee and butterscotch. 86/100
Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch 7 whisky review: Spicy, which I’m not a huge fan of – but I can appreciate here. European oak influence in abundance, young and vibrant and very sherried. Carries a nice tannic/chewy rancio-like quality. Probably not my favourite of the Teapot drams I have tried so far but very worthy of the name. 89/100
Bunnahabhain vintage 2009 Sherry Hogshead whisky review: A delicious sherry-matured Bunnahabhain the retains an orange oil zestiness from youth but with plenty of well-developed sherry influences too. 88/100
Royal Salute 21 Years Old Signature Blend whisky review: Rich, deep and powerful flavours for a blended whisky. Quite distinctive with heavy chocolate, fruit and nut character deriving from sherry cask usage. 86/100
Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection 2014 Sonoma-Cutrer Finish whisky review: A beautiful combination of bourbon and red wine cask finishing that added plenty of red fruits. 91/100
