Cameronbridge 21 Years Old 1997 James Eadie Whisky Review: Quite simple, oaky with plenty of vanilla and coconut, no surprise this was a single grain or that it was matured in a refill hogshead, still quite harsh and solventy for its age. 76/100
Cameronbridge 21 Years Old 1997 James Eadie Whisky Review: Quite simple, oaky with plenty of vanilla and coconut, no surprise this was a single grain or that it was matured in a refill hogshead, still quite harsh and solventy for its age. 76/100
Ledaig 10 Years Old 2008 The Single Cask Whisky Review: Another superb expression, the complete antithesis of colour = flavour, much like many young Islay whiskies. A lovely mixture of fruit and smoke with more than an indication on the nose of exactly where it came from. 86/100
Bruichladdich 13 Years Old 2002 Old Particular Whisky Review: Spirit driven though there are hints of vanilla and spice from the cask noticeable in places, orchard fruits, honey and slightly coastal salt-caramel prevail, great. 85/100
Caperdonich 22 Years Old Whisky Review: A real cake of a dram, there is some tropical fruit notes and plenty of tannic oaky spice which reveals its age. Coupled with that odd acidity and over tannic oak I can’t help but be reminded of mango balsamic vinegar. 91/100
Isle of Jura 28 Years Old 1992 whisky review: Initially quite a quiet and unassuming dram but not closed. Distillate driven, though there are some good additions here from the cask that has mellowed this spirit over the 28 years. The end result is dangerously drinkable.
Annandale Man O’ Words 2015 Bourbon Cask 528 Whisky Review: Really quite fresh compared to the new make spirit, predominantly fruit driven here with lemons and apples and also lots of vanillin and woody oak spices from the bourbon cask. Traces of barley malt persist in the finish. 84/100
Tamdhu 8 Years Old 2006 Provenance Whisky Review: A little light, possibly due to maturation in a refill cask? Very milk and vanilla rich. 80/100
Dailuaine 29 Years Old 1983 Old Spiced Balm Whisky Review: A superb old Dailuaine, quite light and bourbon matured unlike the sherry heavy OB, waxy rather than meaty. 88/100
Glenburgie 21 Years Old Black Friday 2019 Edition Whisky Review: OK, better at cask strength though tinny. Good tropicality showing age in fruit but feels like quite an underactive cask and a bit of an odd choice. With water becomes sharper, more limey and spicy with cinnamon. 85/100
Linkwood 18 Years Old 1997 Old Malt Cask Whisky Review: Still fairly basic with much spirit lead flavour akin to the 10 year old, some deeper flavours in here thanks to longer maturation but I’m still not loving this one. 82/100
