Superb, creamy textured and vibrantly fruity this has something of a curd or yoghurty nature and the youth comes through as banana milkshake (estery and creamy). A great insight into Drouin’s base spirit nature. 84/100

Christian Drouin VSOP Calvados Pays d’Auge Calvados Review: A much more classical introductory Calvados here with a fine balance between fruity apple spirit and tannic oak cask influences, grows on the palate. 83/100
Christian Drouin 1989 Calvados Pays d’Auge review: A fantastically balanced Calvados, the sherry has deepened and darkened the fruits, reducing the apple sweetness and also prolonging some lovely mouth-coating oils. Everything in moderation here results in the complete package, dangerously easy to drink before you realise the fully what is going on. Deliciously light nutty and woody smoke, tart brambles and tannic oak. 93/100
Alchemist 15 Year Old Calvados Pays d’Auge Review: Not too fruity, this expression leans heavily towards the maturation flavours of tannic and woody spices, I’m still slightly bemused by the almost wood smoke aroma on the nose and a very dry apple smell. Takes time to open up on the palate like toffee or chocolate that needs to be melted on the tongue before its flavour starts to release. Still, excellent quality and hugely enjoyable! 90/100
