Bold, earthy and chewy peat, lots of sweet malt and plenty of fruit from the casks. With an abundance of French oak tannins and wine influence this reminded me a lot of Ardbeg’s Corryvreckan expression, however the peat here seems drier and earthier and less oily and phenolic than Ardbeg. 88/100
Works well both at cask strength or reduced, plenty of fruit and a sweet cake-like nature.
Unusual I think the colour and some of the flavours here had me guessing incorrectly that there was some sherry influence present? Plenty of woody oak and spirit character but not-integrated these elements appear separately. 85/100
SMWS 17.39 Relax, take it easy Whisky Review: A pleasure to taste and a real treat to sample with the ice cream also made from it. Quite delicate and light and a touch floral. Presented that great taste combination of rose and vanilla white chocolate. 87/100
