HighGlen 3 Years Old Batch 1

HighGlen 3 Years Old Batch 1 That Boutique-Y Whisky Company

1. What they say

Feast your eyes upon the very first bottling of HighGlen single malt Swiss whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company! The HighGlen Distillery is run by Lord Gunter Sommer, who built the distillery into his home, which is where this whisky came from. As you can infer from the label, Sommer puts a lot of care and attention into making his whisky, with a lot of inspiration coming from the Scottish methods of whisky making. Look how closer he’s inspecting that cask! Wait… Is there a tiny bar in there…?

Batch 1 is a release of 131 bottles.

5. The Whiskyphiles tasting notes

  • Colour Bright Sauternes gold (7/20), numerous medium-fine tears and lots of fine legs.
  • Nose Sweet, lemon zest and juice, cereal barley flour/milled, lemon puff biscuits, some honey and golden syrup, lemon meringue pie.
  • Taste Medium-full bodied, sweet, zesty, floral, orange blossom, citrus lemon, mealy cereal, lemon drizzle flapjacks, some soft ginger-spiced biscuits, cinnamon, oak wood, lemon & thyme.
  • Finish Medium-long, touch more spiced with white pepper and candied lemon peel

6. Overall

Quite delicate nose and palate on this expression, biscuity and lemon-infused with the addition of ginger and thyme in places. Quite dessert-like and syrupy. Surprised this doesn’t feel like it is only 3 years old this one is more mature than its years.

7. Score 85/100
