Hello, we’re The Dram Team.
We curate out-of-the-ordinary whisky tastings and deliver them right to your door.
Whether you’re a curious newcomer or a seasoned professional, we’re the best way to explore everything the world of whisky has to offer.
We launch(ed!) at Midday on Tuesday 7th June.
Several weeks ago I was posited a question about the possibilities of a company providing whisky tasting sets by one of the founders of The Dram Team. Despite some initial uncertainties I favoured this as a nice idea as it represented a great ‘discovery package’ for whisky. Reaching fruition on Tuesday 7th June, I was more than happy to join a select group of beta testers along with the inimitable Steve Rush from @TheWhiskyWire as master of ceremonies as the #TheDramTeam tweet tasting went live at 7pm that evening.
The Premise:
Based upon a letterbox friendly and sleekly packaged box of 6 hand-selected whiskies. Competitively priced at £30/box (though launch discounts offers are available if you are quick!). Each box is constructed around a particular theme and guides the taster through 5 X 25ml drams before the prize sixth 10ml dram from a super-premium bottling.
For the #TheDramTeam tasting our box was constructed around the familiar Scotch whisky regions and featured the following drams:
Highland: Inchmurrin 18 Years Old
Lowland: Auchentoshan Three Wood
Campbeltown: Glen Scotia Double Cask
Islay: Bowmore 15 Years Old Darkest
Speysise: Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength
Island: Highland Park 21 Years Old
The result:
A highly successful tasting session! This pack came with everything barring a glass and mouth to drink from it to perform an educational and entertaining tasting session. Handy cards for each dram give information on both official tasting notes and notes from The Dram Team members themselves giving a good indication on why each whisky was selected. In essence this is a neat little tasting set that represents an inexpensive way (for approximately the price of one budget single malt bottle) to try out 6 different whiskies , including something really quite special at the end. So rather than purchase another bottle of the old favourite why not try out lots of something new instead. Cheers!
