Full of fresh fruit flavours and aromas, quite green and spirit driven – I suspected a refill cask and confirmed by the bottling details. Pleasant, a good base whisky and nice insight into Blair Athol spirit. 82/100
Glen Grant 10 Years Old 2004 Hepburn’s Choice whisky review: A little lighter in body than the older expressions due in part to age and reduced activity of the refill hogshead used here perhaps? Still full of that lovely fruity character and gently sweet and spiced. 84/100
Linkwood 18 Years Old 1997 Distiller’s Art whisky review: Bursting with fresh fruit, reminded me a little of caramel apple granny or apple cakes then plenty of citurs zest and some oak wood adds a little depth to this really rather good Linkwood. 84/100
A spirit led expression with a crash course in American oak, great experiment but perhaps not the best indication of what either distillery or cask can do. 79/100

Hepburn’s Choice Craigellachie 8 Years Old 2008 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Review: Another sulphur dominant Craigellachie but not unpleasant, a distinct lack of other flavours/aromas to the same intensity had me questioning if this was a red or white wine cask finish as nothing dominated. 75/100

Just beautiful, very fruity on the nose but more malty and nutty on the palate. I’m guessing Oloroso sherry cask but who cares what it was matured in – this is good! 89/100
