The story of the Locher family and their art of brewing begins in Oberegg in the 18th century. In 1886 the family took over the brewery in Appenzell, which is still a brewery and distillery today.
1999 After the ban on the production of spirits from grain was lifted, master brewer Karl Locher, known for his creative types of beer, began producing Säntis Malt in historical beer barrels and using spring water from the Alpstein.
2000 The Locher AG brewery comes onto the market with its first products and goes down in history as a pioneer in Swiss whiskey production.
