History Healey’s cornish cyder farm was founded in 1986, in 2000 distilling equipment and cellars were added and production of apple brandy started. In 2003 two of Cornwall’s drinks producers, St Austell Brewery and Healey’s Cyder Farm, announced that they had begun to produce the first whisky in England for almost a century. In September 2011 Hicks & Healey launched a 7 year old single malt english whiskey – the first and oldest English whisky bottled for over a century.
The Whiskyphiles tasting notes
- Hicks & Healey 8 Year Old Cornish Single Malt (2017) - Very pleasing & vanilla’d in all its forms, an easy drinker that reminded us of Dalwhinnie or Cardhu single malt scotch, nothing overly complicated about it but a good solid dram and excels in its simplicity, I think this would appeal to many. 85/100
