1. What they say

This triple-distilled Single Malt paved the way, leading the Renaissance in rediscovering Irish Single Malts. It shaped a new future, taking us on a journey of discovery unlike any other. Matured in American Oak Bourbon and European Oak Oloroso Sherry casks to give exceptional flavour and complexity. Triple distilled and crafted from a mash bill made entirely of Irish barley. Rich, honeyed maltiness and soft notes of candied fruit come from the double maturation. Bottled at 40% ABV.

4. What I say

Following on from The Irishman The Harvest expression I moved on to their 2022 relaunched Single Malt expression. Featuring both bourbon and sherry cask maturation.

5. The Whiskyphiles tasting notes

  • Colour Amber gold (9/20), medium tears and long, medium legs.
  • Nose Mellower than The Harvest expression and sweeter, softer fruits and cereals, apple, lemon, pear, melon, vanilla, soft coconut, white chocolate, toasted coconut and marshmallows, candied peel and hazelnut.
  • Taste Medium-light bodied, fruity, apple, orange, lemon, some peel and zest, butterscotch, fudge, caramel, soft cereals, toasted coconut, vanilla, woody oak and soft woody spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted almond and hints of liqourice.
  • Finish Medium, soft stroopwaffles, cinnamon and woody oak.

6. Overall

Of similar quality to The Irishman The Harvest expression but quite a different character, lacking that Pot Still spice and also complexity from both malt and mixed cask maturation resulting in something very enjoyable.

7. Score 84/100
