Inoffensive and almost a little bland in places, ok for an introductory whisky and for me a touch too spiced – or at least nothing balanced against the wood spices in this one. 77/100

Another great peated expression, less sweet and floral than the 12 year old but quite mealy and full of oak wood and fruit, wood char, peat smoke and coal-tar soap. 85/100
A good & classic anCnoc expression, quite flavourful and rich even presented at 40% ABV with lots of dessert-led fruit and sweetness. 84/100
Cragganmore 2003 Distillers Edition Whisky Review: Feeling a little thin in texture at 40% ABV but otherwise lovely soft fruits and cereals and that gentle suggestion of smoke & spices. 83/100
Cardhu Special Cask Reserve Whisky Review: Soft and gentle, accessible if a little uninspired, some vanilla oak influence but errs towards bitterness and awful thin feeling at 40%. 76/100
Craigellachie 18 Years Old 1995 Old Malt Cask Whisky Review: A well-sherried Craigellachie which still retains a little of that meaty sulphur and citrus peel spirit nature too, as a lover of heavily-sherried malts this one appealed to more than just my eye. 84/100
Glen Moray 16 Years Old 2004 Burgundy Cask #213 Whisky review: Definitely my favourite of the trio. Richer and deeper in flavours though the same tannic spice is here it is a little more balanced against the wine cask here and the malty spirit nature is hardly noticable holding it all together. 86/100
Glen Moray 16 Years Old 2004 Chenin Blanc Cask #341 Whisky Review: Another full bodied and intense expression. Again quite tannic and spicy, with water this moves into fruit & chalk but still that must/old rubber persists throughout. 84/100
Glen Moray 17 Years Old 2003 Chardonnay Cask Whisky Review: Pretty full on at cask strength this is packed with fruits and tannins, with water some peppery spice still remains. 85/100
Tomintoul 15 Years Old 2005 Amontillado Finish Whisky Review: A much more delicate dram than the Dailuaine, more typically speyside and slightly more typically sherried here also. Leather and sun-dried fruits combine with plenty of orange zest and hazelnut. 88/100
