Daftmill 11 Years Old 2008 The Whisky Bars of Scotland (55.5%, OB, Bourbon Cask 068/2008, 160 bottles, 2019)

Daftmill-2008-WBoS

Daftmill 2008 Single Cask The Whisky Bars of Scotland Whisky Review: Well-received by other tasters, almost a complete opposite to the last dram (Imperial). Unfortunately for me this didn’t taste right and had me thinking of early Kininvie releases. Something in this suggested poor distillation or perhaps over-oxidation? Very buttery. 68/100

Benriach 5 Years Old 2013 Single Cask Series (46.2%, GreatDrams, Oloroso Butt #121/2013, 213 Bottles, 2019)

Benriach 5 Years Old 2013 The GreatDrams Single Cask Series Whisky Review: Quite light and spirity and shows signs of youth particularly in the coppery metallic nature. Not overtly peated – I picked this up blind as a dark/liqourice and burnt nature in which this gets most of its strength. Nice dark/dried fruit and sugary notes. 81/100

The GlenDronach Traditionally Peated (48%, OB, 2019)

The GlenDronach Traditionally Peated Whisky Review: This is sweet first from the cask maturations then a dry peat smoke emerges, these interchange on the palate regularly during the course of this dram giving it a wonderful complexity as varying levels of sweetness and smoke combine. This would make a great introduction to heavy (but non-isaly/overtly phenolic) smoke influenced whisky. I really like this one! 85/100
