What they say

The Reserve de Jean is a Grande Champagne Cognac that takes its name from Jean L’Homme, who founded Drouet et Fils in 1848.

What I say

A single estate Grand Champagne Cognac from the Drouet family estate located in the village of Salles d’Angles which is just 5 miles outside the town of Cognac.

My tasting notes:

  • Appearance: Dark gold (11/20) medium tears and legs.
  • Nose: Sweet, apple, grape, dusty, icing sugar and a little chalky, gingerbread, spicy woody oak, clove, nutmeg, star anise.
  • Taste: Medium-full bodied, slightly creamy, vanilla cream, sugar syrup, date, almond, silky on the palate with gingerbread, spiced cinnamon and ginger, brown sugar and golden syrup.
  • Finish: Long, sweet and spiced, soft gingerbread biscuits.

Overall

Deliciously soft and inviting like spiced gingerbread melting in your mouth.

Score 83/100

Don’t take my word for it:
