The Berlin-Brandenburg Rye Whiskey wins double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and continues its winning streak.
It was a great moment of joy when the winners of the San Francisco Competition were announced last week and it turned out that STORK CLUB Rye is among the best whiskeys in the world. Only a few months ago, the brand was already awarded “Whisky of the Year National 2017” at the Internationaler Spirituosen Wettbewerb (ISW).
The international award underlines STORK CLUB Ryes exceptional position and marks another high point in the short history of the brand. It was only in 2016, that the Spreewood Destillers turned Brandenburg’s oldest whisky distillery into Germany’s first and only 100% rye distillery.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is regarded as one of the most prestigious award shows in the world. In 2018, more than 2.200 spirits were submitted. Double gold is reserved for those, which received a unanimous gold rating from the jury. It’s the highest award within the competition.
“With our rye whiskey we’ve been targeting the international market right from the start”, explains Bastian Heuser, one of the three founders of Spreewood Destillers. “The success in the US, the home country of rye, demonstrates that we don’t have to be shy about our product. German rye is ready to compete!”
STORK CLUB Rye Whiskey is exported to selected countries since 2018. The STORK CLUB Rye Whiskey range will be extended with several expressions from 2019 on.
