Whisky New Releases 2017 Week 4
Welcome to The Whiskyphiles New Releases, our weekly report on the best of both the official and independently bottled whisky recently released.
A limited release week it appears, though a few major official bottlings are out such as Sprinbank’s latest 12cs and 25 year old.
Our top pick this week are:
- Ben Nevis 10 Year Old a rebranded packaging but hopefully the same greatly underrated whisky in the bottle that deserves to be on anyone’s shelf – the years of Japanese ownership have finally perfected this whisky.
- Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength Springbank, 12 years old, cask strength – all under £50 – this will be a bomb.
- Caol Ila 2009 TWE Exclusive Caol Ila is another greatly underrated dram, still packed with the coastal and peaty flavours of Islay and costs much less than your average Ardbeg, Lagavulin or Bowmore exclusive editions!
Actually a slightly peat-influenced selection this week – possibly to match the cold weather we are experiencing here in Scotland and the moment though that winter sun is just about breaking through, any of these will warm you by the fire 😉
Caol Ila 2009 TWE Exclusive (70cl, 46%) £49.95
