News: New Whisky Releases 2016 Week 13
Our celebratory Easter Eggs this week in the new releases are from both ends of the spectrum. On the one hand we have Lagavulin celebrating 200 years of distilling by releasing a limited edition 8 Year Old expression in reverence to comments made by Alfred Barnard when he visited in the late 1800’s. At the other end of the scale we have Wolfburn‘s first release of whisky matured the minimum of 3 years and fresh onto the shelves. Not to be overlooked, Arran released their staple bottling of 18 Years Old (after their 1st batch 18yo released last year). BenRiach release a NAS Cask Strength edition. Dalmore and Glenlivet have some investment releases in the form of the Dalmore 25 year old 2015 release and Glenlivet’s 16 year old single cask Gallow Hill edition. For the more affordable options we have West Cork’s Original Irish blend and Pennypacker Bourbon, both inexpensive enough to be worth a sample at least. Finally we have a trio of releases from Gleann Mor under their ever-changing Rare Find label including Ardbeg, Glen Moray and Tomatin expressions, and the folks at Koval still experimenting with different grains and releasing this Millet Spirit.
