News: New Whisky Releases 2016 Week 11
This week we have another bumper crop of whisky new releases. In light of St. Patrick’s Day today my recommendations must go to Adelphi’s Limerick Slaney 1991 23 year old (I can’t always pick Longmorn can I? but this 25 is probably stupendous as usual!!) or Connemara Distillers Edition. From further afield we find some exciting new Froki (not quite ready to be called whisky) Young Malt Spirit. A quartet of single cask Sauternes matured Arran malts at 18 years old bottled by the French Thompsons label piqued my curiosity. As did the Golden Age blend at 40 years old containing Macallan, Glenrothes and Tamdhu this sounded suspiciously similar to Royal Mile Whiskies recently bottled 40 Year Old Blend (*ahem*). Laphroaig’s new Lore was released to the Friends of Laphroaig this week but I let this one slip by as I am hoping we will cross paths under general release at a later date 😉 confirmed to have a variety of aged whiskies in it though they cannot all be disclosed. Signatory’s 25 year old Glenrothes single cask is a drinkable indulgence and the investment release this week was the stunning Glenfarclas 50 Years Old likely to sell out asap!
Happy dramming, Barry @TheWhiskyphiles Slainte!
