Cardhu Distillery Visit
Our 4th Distillery and second full tour occured at Cardhu on 4th September 2011. Thanks to joining the ‘Friends of the Classic Malts’ during out tour of Dalwhinnie just days previously we were entitled to a completely free tour. I opted to enhance our tour with a ‘Taste of the Regions’. This entitled me to sampling the Cardhu 12, Cardhu Distillers Edition and the cask strength Cardhu special cask reserve (Distillery only). Unfortunately as I hadn’t started blogging I didn’t bother taking any tasting notes at this time. Furthermore I was allowed to sample from a selection of the Flora and Fauna range in stock – one of my main reasons for purchasing the enhanced tasting tour. I was interested in purchasing either the Mortlach or Dailuaine Flora and Fauna bottling and wanted to see which I preferred. I remeber also sampling some Caol Ila as my final dram but the other escapes me (it may have been Teaninich). In the end I opted for buying a bottle of Mortlach but none was in stock at Cardhu, I recalled it in stock at Dalwhinnie so we stopped there on our way home and purchased a bottle.
